LOWER-GRADE MUTTON FOR BRITAIN
EXPORT IN EMERGENCY (P.A.) Wellington, March 4. In a further endeavour to alleviate the grave meat shortage in the United Kingdom, the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has suggested that the United Kingdom Ministry of Food be asked whether mutton from twotooth virgin rams killed before March 31 in the North Island and April 20 in the South Island would be acceptable. Advice has now been received that Britain will take this class of meat.
Every endeavour should be made by producers to get the maximum quantity slaughtered within the restricted killing period allowed. The schedule prices to operate immediately for this emergency grade are as for second grade wethers.
