■Messrs. Herbert. Johanson, William Park, Alfred John Cleverley, George Hill and James Andrew Barton have been elected members of the Government Raiways Appeal Board. The appointment of Justices Blair, Smith, Kennedy and Callan as members of the Rilles Committee, under the Judicature Amendment Act, is gazetted.—(Press Assn.)
The promotion of Lieut.-Colonel (Temp. Brigadier A. E. Conway, New Zealand Staff Corps, and of Lieut.Colonel (Temp. Brigadier) A. B. Williams, Royal New Zealand Artillery, to be colonels was gazetted last night. —Press Assn.)
Mr. T. S. Russell, whose death occurred recently, was a member of the Wanganui City Patriotic Committee. At a meeting yesterday the chairman of the committee (Mr. N. R. Bain) referred to the hard work Mr. Rusnell had done in a patriotic sense in Wanganui, and the meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect to his memory. ___________
