EXPORT MEAT KILLINGS
NEW SEASON’S PRODUCTION Export meat killings at New Zealand Freezing Works for the period Ist October, 1945, to 29th December, 1945, sho»\ a substantial overall increase ovei the corresponding period for last season, states the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, in its initial survey of the new season’s production. A feature of the increase is the heavy killings of lambs due to the adverse climatic conditions at present being experienced in most districts of the North Island. It is too early to make any reliable forecast as to the final production figures for the season but it can be stated with reasonable certainty that due to adverse climatic conditions last season’s high average weights will not be maintained. Export killings to the 29tli December are set out below with the corresponding figures for the previous season in parentheses:—
