WANGANUI STOCK SALE

A .yarding of 5000 sheep came forward at the Wanganui stock sale held .yesterday, state Freeman R. Jackson and Co. in. their report. It was the best of the season, all classes of lambs showing a general advance of about 2s 6d a head. Bidding was more sustained and a iotah clearance was effected. Good top lambs, both Down cross and Romney, were keenly sought after. All fat cheep were a; late values, with fat cattie fully firm. There was a total clearance over a medium entry of P.A. cows anu heifers at improved rates. There was a total clearance in every section. Prices:—

Sheep: Fat ewes 17s, 19s 9d; maiden ewes to 265; prime Down two-tooths, to 27s 6d; light weights, 225, 24s 3d; two-tooth wether., 245, 24s 6d; culls, 18s 3a, 19s 9d; woolly fattening ewes to 22s 3d; shorn, 5s lOd, 11s; woolly b.f. lambs, 18s, 19s 4d; medium, 14s, i6s 6d; culls 7s 6d, 10s; good forward shorn wether lambs, 18s od, 20s; aveiage, 13.; 6d, 16s 6d; well grown, lacking condition, 12s, 13s; good medium wether lamb, 10s, 12s;- culls, 6s, Bs, medium owe lambs, 14s, 17s 6d; small 7s, 8s 6d.

Cattle: Light fat steers, £10; prime ex-dairy cows to £8 2s 6d; light weights, £6 2s 6d, £7 2 6d; good boners, £4 10s £5 7s 6d; P.A. steers, forward, £10; 3-year P.A. heifers, £B, 2-year, £6 ss; P.A. cows and calves to £7 17s 6d; crossbred ditto, £5 18s, £6. Pigs: Light baconeis to £3; choppers to £3 15s; flips, 16s. Vealers: £2, £3 15s. MARTON SALE The N.Z. Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co., Lid., report an entry of 2200 lambs, 10 cattle, and 18 pigsThere was a good attendance of farmers, bui bidding was restricted asd prices were in purchasers’ favour. Mr. Bruce Galpin’s line of 838 wether lambs brought 13s 6ri, and a line ol 4.36 woolly b.f. lambs on a/c Mr. Campbell Nicols realised 14s. Both these lines were of medium quality. Throughout the Addington market to-day there was a buoyant demanci for best fat stock, although there were increased entries in all sections. Fat sh'cp recovered the drop of Is to Is 6d a head recorded a week ago. The sale for fat. cattle of butchers’ quality was firm, but other classes slipped by up to £l. a head. Store Sheep.—The largest offering of lambs for many years was sold in the stoie sheep section, the yarding comprised 14,900 lambs and about 1500 adult sheep. On the whole the best lots sold at par to a shade better than similar lines last week, and values for medium to good class, which was strongly represented, firmed up Io Is a head. In store lamb values Ire top pr : ce was 255, good 23s 6d to 24s 6d.

The best beef made 50s per lOOlbs., good 47s 6d, medium 45s 6d. best cow beef to 355, and secondary to 30s.
