MR. E. RANDALL RETIRES
WELL KNOWN AS CHURCH ORGANIST. Mr. Edgar Randall church organist of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, for 18 years, retired at the end of 1945 and does not intend accepting another similar position. A son of the late Mr. George Randall, Mr. Edgar Randall is well known in Wanganui, and at the age of 19 wa; organist at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. His father was also conspicuous in Wanganui for his musical ability.
“We are deeply thankful for all he has done for S . Mary’s,” said the Very Rev. Dean Fancourt, paying a warm tribute to Mr. Randall. “He was of a very generous spirit, and always gave willingly of his services when there was an extra service or function. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
“As a musician he is outstanding, and as a recitalist he takes first place. Many will miss his playing of the pieces of the great composers,” Dean Fan court added.
Mrs. Hector Christie, Wanganui, is a sister of Mr. Edgar Randall.
