Memories of the goldfields days in Olago will be revived with the holding of the Vincent Jockey Club’s meeting to-day and to-morrcAv, but an indication of the passing of those glories is provided by the fact that this 'country club can oifer only £2312 in stakes for the sixteen events carded. Unusual conditions Attach to the trophies in some events. For instance, the Clare Memorial Challenge Gold Cup is a hack handicap race, with a stake of £lss’and a gold cup. In addition there is another gold cup, valued at £3OO to be held by the owner of the winner, but it will be presented to the owner winning three times in succession or five times at intervals.
