WON THREE RACES ON END
JOVIAL HOUR AT MARTON AND RANGITIKEI The Te Puke-owned and trained Jovial Hour started off a winning “trot" at Marton by carrying 7.13 i f including 341 b overweight) in Ihe Dash Hack Handicap and winning easily. Incidently, his win dividend was just under a score. Raised only 241 b, probably because his first-day i verweight was overlooked. Jovial Hour again had no trouble in winning on the second day, and the support that came for Tahli enabled his backers to share an excellent dividend for a “certainty.” His next appearance was in the Ngaio Hack Handicap at Bulls on Saturday, this time with 8.7. After r flowing Theorist to make the pace. Jovial Hour ran past that smart, mare io win by two lengths, with the third J.orse four lengths further back. The
dividend was of meagre proportions. On each occasion Jovial Hour was ridden by W. J. Stevens, who early this week left for India, where he intends to take out a licence to ride. Jovial Hour will not bee seen in action at Marton to-morrow, as his engagements were not continued when acceptances were taken. The handicapper had found him out. giving him 9.2 in the Otairi Hack and 9.4 in the Electric Hack. His three wins, however, earned him £495 in stake-money. Last season he started sixteen times | for four minor placings, and he has started off the current season well enough to bo within reach of open ; class, whore probably his future rar- | inc will be done, though he is st#l oiigible for hack events
