REHABILITATION COMMITTEE WORK IN DECEMBER
During the month of December, the following loans, etc., were dealt with by the Marton Rehabilitation Committee:—Bus ness loans 3, housing loans 2, applications for dairy grading 4, applications for mixed farm grading 1, applications for sheep grading 1. Two State houses were allocated.
MONSTER WELCOME HOME DANCE
The Marton branch of the Returned Servicemen’s Association have arranged a monster welcome home dance to all serv.cemen who have recently returned from overseas, which will take place in the popular dancing Victory Hall at Marton on Thursday, January 17. The admission charge is 2s 6d and Pompey Durie’s band orchestia will provide the music and the assoc.ai ons lad es’ committee will be in charge of the supper. Six cyclists faced the starter on Wednesday ior the cycle road race round the Nga 3 awa block, which resulted in a win for L’. Robertson with 15sec. start, A. Qu.ttenden was second and C. Stantiall third. Fastest time, 11 minutes—was recorded by D. Wapp from scratch.
CRICKET MATCH MANGAWEKA v. MARTON RAILWAY *ln a match at Mangaweka during the week-end, the home club proved to good for Marton Railway by 8b runs. Mangaweka knocked up 192 runs in their innings, V.
