CITY COUNCIL SEAT
MR. J. J. SCOTT TO STAND AT BY-ELECTION LABOUR CANDIDATE CHOSEN It was learnt officially last night that, subject to the endorsement of the Wanganui Labour Representation Committee, which will meet early next week to consider the matter, Mr. J. J. Scott, well known in W r anganui and a former city councillor, will definitely be the Labour candidate for the vacancy created on the City Council by the death of Cr. T. S. Russell. Mr. Scott served on the council from 1929 to 1931, and for a continuous period from 1933 to 1944. He was highest on the list of unsuccessful candidates when the municipal elections were held in May, 1944.
A good deal of enthusiasm was being shown on behalf of Mr. Scott, anX lhe Labour movement intended spar < ing no effort to secure his re-election to the City Council, it was stated last night.
