OCCUPATION FORCE FOR JAPAN
COMMANDER DUE IN N.Z. TO-DAY
Recd. 7 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 7. Lieutenant-General Northcott. commander of the British Occupation Force in Japan, will go to New Zealand to-morrow to confer with the New Zealand Government. He is travelling by his own plane from Melbourne to Wellington, and will return, in a few days. From Mebourne he goes to India, possibly via Morotai, to confer with the British comtmander-in-chief, India, General Auchinleck.
The advance party of Australians is expected to leave Morotai for Japan within a fortnight.
