W.D.F.U. MEETING (0.C.) Waitotara, Dec. 27. Mrs. A. Verry presided over a good Attendance at. the last meeting for 1945 of the Waitotara branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers Union and welcomed several visitors. It was decided that the next meeting be held on February 28, 1946. The competitions are to be for best bloom and slice of Christmas cake. Arrangements will be made for the birthday party. Mrs. D. R. Jackson, president, of the Waverley branch of the W.D, was the guest speaker and gave a very interesting talk on “Adult Influence on Children.” Mrs. P. V. Graves, also of Waverley, gave several humorous recitations. Both ladies were thanked. Mrs. J. Laird and Mrs. Mahoney were responsible for the social part of the meeting. Mrs. Thorne was in charge of the bring-and-buy table and Mesdames J. Doyle and Missen were tea hostesses. Results of competitions. Small cakes: Mrs. Thorne 1 and 2; Mrs J. Laird 3; best rose, Mrs. J. Laird 1. NUKUMARU SCHOOL A most enjoyable breaking up party was held at the Nukumaru School. Father Christmas was present and gave all the children toys, etc., from the Christmas tree. All school children received a book. The evening was spent in games and items given by the children. The teacher, Mr.?. Dobie, was presented with a Christmas gift from parents and children. Supper was served to all present. The happy evening was brought to a close with the National Anthem.
