COOK ISLANDS OFFICER
DR. E. I*. ELLISON RETIRING Wellington, Dec. 21. “The chief medical officer for the Cook Islands, Dr. E. P. Ellison. 0.8. E., is retiring on superannuation,” stated the Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, yesterday, “and ho will return to New Zealand on the Maui Pomare, which is due at Auckland on Christmas Day. “Over the past 26 years,” stated Mr. Fraser, “Dr. Ellison has laboured among the island peoples who are in the care of the Now Zealand Administration. They, as well as his friends throughout New Zealand, will join with me in doing honour to the work ho and extending to the doctor and Mr.;. Ellison best wishes for their future.”
Dr. Ellison was born at Portobello, Dunedin, 61 years ago and began his work among th? islanders in 1919, when h? became medical officer for Niue Island. He has recently been acl ng-Resident Commissioner during the absence i**New Z?aland of the Cook Islands Commissioner.
