RIDING ENGAGEMENTS
PLENTY OF TRAVELLING FOR JOCKEYS
With all the holiday racing to be [ covered there will be plenty of travelling for some of the jockeys. For instance, after riding at Wingatui today A. Messervy will fly to Auckland to ride at Ellerslie on Boxing Day. W. J. Broughton will be at the Pahiatua meeting at Woodville to-day, at Ellerslie on Wednesday next (Boxing Day), Awapuni on Thursday, Ellerslie on Friday, and Awapuni again on Saturday of next week. He will then return io Ellerslie for the final two days on New Year s Day and January Riding engagements announced for holiday meetings include the following:— AT ELLERSLIE. W. J. DERBY CANDIDATES OFF TO ELLERSLIE
Master Robin and Al-Sirat, Trent-ham-trained candidates for the Great Northern Derby at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day, will leave Wellington today for the northern centre. Both three-year-olds are reported to be in excellent order for the test of three-year-old supremacy. Repudiate, who was in the Foal Stakes, is not making the trip.
