MORE THAN A LOCAL ISSUE

Recd. 12.20 a.m. London, Dec. 21. The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent in Moscow emphasises that though the Russian claims against Turkey originally were advanced in a 4000-word letter in a T.tlis newspaper from two Georgian Djanashia and Berdzenishvili, the tact that the Moscow newspapers reproduced the letter under a four-column heading! reading “Our Lawful Demands to Turkey,” makes the matter far more than a local or academic issue.

The correspondent adds that the territory concerned includes the important communication centres of Ardahan, Artvin, Oita, Bayburt, Gumasane and the important ports of Trabzon and Giresun.

The Russian claims give the Georgia coastline, including the eastern corner of the Black Sea and also put the Soviet land and sea border farther from Balaum, which at present is a front er town.
