BRITISH FARMS
HOW NEEDS COULD HELP GENERAL ECONOMY . London, Dec. 20 Brits h agriculture will need tractors and fa. m machinery worth £2O 000.009 a year, according to a report by the Natioral Farmers’ Union on tiu position caused by the cessation of Lend-Lease. The union poin s out that the demends of agriculture, if met by British manufacturers, would do much to rehabilitate the British engineering irdu try. The agricul ural industry has been left in a position in whicn it is faced with much restricted supplies of implements and machines at a .ime when a sustained effort for food production is required. The pro--v'tion of adr quate amounts and type: 9 of machinery at prices which are economic both to the manufacturer and the farmer has become a matter cf urgent concern.
