LAID TO REST
FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR. E. H. T. MCDONALD..
There was a full representation of stock and commercial firms as well as members of the farming community present at the funeral of the late Mr. E. H. T. McDonald, which was held at the Aramoho cemetery yesterday morning.
The interment was preceded by Requiem Mass, which was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Father A. McDonald, of St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, a nephew. In the sanctuary were members of the clergy and the Rev. Father Alex McDonald, of Timaru, a brother. The pallbearers from the residence to the church were members of the Hibernian Society. The bearers from the hearse to the graveside were Messrs. S. J. Sievers. E. Cutfield, W. Wakeling, D. Campion, J. Redwood, and J. McDonald. Rev. Father A. McDonald officiated at the graveside. LATE MR. F. H. STOKES. All the musical bodies of the city were represented at the funeral of the late Mr. Frederick Herbert Stokes, which was held at the Wanganui cemetery yesterday morning. Before the interment, Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where Mr. Stokes had been organist fpr 18 years. The celebrant Of the Mass was the Rev. Father M. J. Burke, parish priest. Boys from the Marist Brothers’ School formed a guard of honour from the hearse to the church. The prayeis of committal at the graveside were read by the Rev. Father G. McHardy. The pallbearers were Messrs. L. McCarthy, E. Holst, J. Carrigan and T. C. McSoriley.
