EASING OF RESTRICTIONS

Recd. 8 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 19. All gas and electricity restrictions will be lifted from 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve until midnight on Christmas Day. The Minister of Local Government, Mr. Cahill, in anouncing this, said the raising of the ban will permit the use of radios and all other appliances prohibited or curtailed by the restrictions, but does not apply to industry. There will be no restriction on the use of lighting for New Year’s Eve and weekly papers will be able to publish Christmas issues, subject to a 50 per cent, cut in the use of power. Mr. Cahill said he would meet the supply authorities again next Friday, and. if possible, try to remove the more irksome ot restrictions still operating.
