COUNTY GRANT TO FOXTON SURF CLUB

(0.C.) Sanson Dec. 17. At the last meeting of the Manawatu County Council a letter was received from the Foxton Surf and Life Saving Club, soliciting the support of the council. The letter nointed out that the club was the only body operating between Paekakariki and Wanganui, and members spent many hours in natrol work without any financial remuneration. In Ihc 1G years of its activities more than 150 rescues of people had been effected. During the war 90 per cent, of its members were overseas and equipment had deteriorated, until now lhe club was faced with heavy expenditure for renewals. It was resolved that a of £lO 10s be made.
