OBITUARY
tdR. G. H. MARSHALL
A former pram.nent Wanganui oarsman and sculler, Mr. George Henry Marshall, died on Monday, aged 64 years. Born in Wanganui, Mr. Marshall adopted the teaching profession on leaving school and taught under the Wanganui Education Board for about 20 years. His last school, where he was attached as assistant, was Queen’s Park. While there he was noted as a Rugby coach and did much to foster primary school Rugby in Wanganui. Leaving Queen’s Park about 1917, Mr. Marshall engaged in farming up river and resided there until his death. In his younger days Mr. Marshall was a valued member of the Wanganui Rowing Club, and he represented it with success at many New Zealand championship regattas. He was a sculler of more than average ability and was prominent at regattas before World War 1.
Mr. Marshall is survived by three sons and one daughter. The sons are Messrs. Clyde, Harold and Kenneth Marshall. The daughter is Mrs. Menzies, Wellington.
