DISPLAY AT TAIHAPE

SIXTEEN GIRLS’ MARCHING TEAMS

Sixteen girls’ marching teams yesterday participated in the first marching display and demonstration held by the Taihape Marching Association, attracting a large crowd at th e Taihape teams.

Thirteen teams travelled through from Wanganui, and there were three Taihape teams. Music for the marching was provided by the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band, under PipeMajor E. C. Morgan, and at the conclusion the band also gave a spectacular drum-major’s display of marching 1 and counter-marching. This proved a popular item loir the spectators, who were not slow in showing their appreciation, and also heartily applauded the displays by the marching teams. The visitors were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. E. Loader, and Mr. Gray, president of the Taihape Athletic Club, both of whom expressed keen appreciation of the action of the Wanganui teams and the band in making the long ,-<rney in aid of the Taihape teams. The visitors were hospitably entertained by Taihape citizens, returning to the city last night.
