PETER GREGOR’S SPRINT AT ELLERSLIE (P.A.) Auckland, Nov. 5. The Auckland Racing Club's midspring meeting opened at. Ellerslie yesterday in fine weather before a good attendance The track was fast. The totalisator handled £139.722, compared with £58,598 at the last mid-spring meeting in 1941 an increase of £81,129. An objection againsl the start of the Melrose Handicap on the grounds that it was not a flat-footed start was made by the stipendiary steward.
