PETER GREGOR’S SPRINT AT ELLERSLIE (P.A.) Auckland, Nov. 5. The Auckland Racing Club's midspring meeting opened at. Ellerslie yesterday in fine weather before a good attendance The track was fast. The totalisator handled £139.722, compared with £58,598 at the last mid-spring meeting in 1941 an increase of £81,129. An objection againsl the start of the Melrose Handicap on the grounds that it was not a flat-footed start was made by the stipendiary steward. After considering the matter Ihe stewards decided to draw the attention of the starter lo rule 280, clause 2 of the Rules of Racing. The Te Rapa trainer, A. Gilmer, was fined £1 for using unsewn bandages on Brahman in the Tiri Hurdles. Results are:—
