“The Way You’ll Look This Xmas”

Londontown’s Showroom already has an expectant air, with racks upon racks of Holiday Frocks all waiting for some lucky owners to take them places at Christmastime. Most of them look the part to perfection—being ideally suitable for holiday festivities both at home and abroad. pottons are the fabrics chiefly employed—but cottons such as you've never seen before—no, not ever. They are so soft, so altogether charming and full ot character; and the colourings and designs of the prints are superlative. • • • Though I promised you columns of gift ideas, I have cut these down to a minimum to-day—you'll find some at the end—to make room for some descriptions of just a few of the lovely frocks I saw in my stroll around Londontown’s Showroom yesterday—and I want you to picture yourself in any or all of these. What type of frock would you like to wear for, say, Christmas Day in that holiday resort—or for that informal little party you’re sure to be asked to at Christmas time? Send me your size and tell me the sort ot thing you would like, and let's get our heads together on this all-impertant question. First of all we’ll pick out one or two outstanding little numbers —outstanding in design, material, cut and price—from a rack of Linens. The colours are adorable —shades of pink from the palest shell pink to the deepest rose; silvery greys to deeper shades of grey; lovely pale saxe to deeper tones of Wedgwood and navy. The styles vary, sleeves are short, with well-tailored shoulder line, and the frocks button from neck to hem. Each smart little frock is characterised hy some different treatment of detail—some have gored skirts, for instance, some have pleats at either side of the buttoned front, some have two breast pockets, or one, or pockets on the skirt, stitchery, tucks, etc. These are frocks that any girl would be proud to wear anywhere. SSW to -55WX and OS, • • • It is hard, to do the Cotton Frocks justice, because they are all so lovely—and all so different, and I have only space to pick out two or three to describe to you. One I thought would look sweet on a young girl was a Wedgwood Blue ground with sprays of tiny pale blossoms scattered upon it, and large spfawling pink roses. The skirt had a basqued front, and the yoke was edged with narrow ruching ot self material. Sleeves were short. Size SSW Another SSW Frock, short sleeves, made also with the popular basqued front, and trimmed with a knot of roulleau at the throat, and the malerial is another of those entrancing cottons, jade blue, starred with small crimson flowers. 41/6 • • • Another picture frock that attracted me was a mustard linen with nicely-padded shoulders pintucked yoke, its surface sprinkled with strawberries and blackberries in white and touches of nigger brown. SSW also — A rod frock, also in a small size, dotted with small white stars, had stitched pockets on skirt and bodice; buttoned from neck to hem. • • • Coloured braid made a novel trimming on a saxe cotton frock with navy polka dots. Shortsleeved, it buttoned down the front from neck to knee, with three rows of on either side of ?ne opening—red, white and black—the buttons repeated the intriguing colour scheme. Alternatively, a pink cotton frock spotted with red was trimmed with red, • white and saxe blue buttons and I bra.d. These unusual frocks were, priced at-- /■> sizess.w. /*/:>
