ON AWAPUNI TRACKS

There was a comparatively light programme at Awapuni on Tuesday and most of the fast work was done on the plough. One of the outstanding items was over seven furlongs by Theolateral. Bowry rode the grey and the first four furlongs was covered in 52 3-5. Theolateral was home easily in better than 41 to complete in 1.33 2-5. Sir Bradbury (Broughton) sprinted five furlongs in 1.7 4-5, the last three in 40 3-5, and he did his work well. Gala Song (J. Harris) was partnered with Our Pat (Broughton) over seven and they were home well in 41 1-5 to complete i n 1.35 3-5. Beneve (H. Pearce) and Lady Spiral (Andrews) broke 40 for the first three of six and over the last bit Beneve appeared to be going better than Lady Spiral, cutting the full distance out in 1.20 2-5. Beneve worked really well. Prefa (Andrews) made the early pace for Lord Bradbury (Broughton), but Lord Bradbury drew level at the | straight entrance and they finished on terms, covering the five in 1.6 and the last three in 39 4-5. Rink (A. Bowness) and Rampant (A. S. Ewan, sprinted six and thev were going smoothly at the finish after running the last three in 40 and the full distance in 1.22. Duplicity. (Broughton) cut five furlongs out in 1.9 2-5 without being under pressure. Happy Climax (R. Saunders) was not. off the bit when running six in 1.24 1-5.

Saludos, Flying Ace, Don Mac, Bay Robe, Omahina and Alethea were among those restricted to pace work. Flying Ace Don Mac and Bav Robe look to be none the worse for the racing they did at Otaki. Saludos was anxious to go faster and Alethea, too, was keen to work. Alethea will probnbly start in the sprint at Bulls and take on the big race the second day at Woodville. REHANDICAPS DECLARED The following rehandicaps have been declared for the Auckland Racing Club's meeting on Saturday, the original imposts being given in parentheses : Tiri Hurdles.—Harris Tweed,. 9 7 (9.0).
