DIVIDENDS DECLARED
The directors of the Manawatu Knitting Mills, Ltd., have recommended a final dividend of 7 per cent., and the transfer books of the company will be closed from November 21 to December 6, both days inclusive. The directors of Kauri Timber Company announce that, suoject to audit, they have resolvoa to recommend that dividends of 3 per cent, be paid for the half-year ended August. 31, making, with the interim dividend paid‘in June, 5 per cent, for the year. Transfer books will close at noon on November 29. The directors of Australian Iron and Steel C., Ltd., advise that the halfyearly dividend to be paid on December 1 on the cumulative preference thares will be at the full rate of 7a per cent. Placer Development Ltd. (Vancouver) announces an unchanged interim dividend of 25 cents (Canadian) a share, less absentee tax of 15 per cent., payable December 14. Books close November J 24. UNITED INSURANCE CO. The United Insurance - Co., Ltd. (Sydney), made a net prolit of £67,397 for the year ended September 30, compared with £66,275 last year. The underwriting surplus increased to £41,962 from £40,497, and net interest and rents were £25,435, against £25,778. A final dividend of 5 per cent., payable November 16, brings the year’s distribution to 10 per cent., requiring £45,000 (unchanged). Other allocations are: Dividend equalisation reserve, £5000; pension reserve, £5OOO and writing down premises, £lO,OOO. Carrv-forward is increased to £15,391 from £12,994. ANTHONY HORDERN AND SONS. The transfer hooka of Anthony Hordern and Sone, Ltd., will be cloned from November 15-28, both days inclusive.
