INDUSTRIAL PEACE CONFERENCE

DATE HAS BEEN FIXED Recd. 10 p.m. Canberra Nov. 13. Invitations have been issued the Prime Minister, Mr. Chifley, to all State Governments and 12 employers and 12 employees' representatives to attend an industrial peace conference in Canberra on December 10 (the date on which a big traffic hold-up Is threatened In New South Wales). Mr. Chifley’s letter of invitation states that the conference will discuss the problems of maintaining industrial peace, promoting general industrial stability and expanding Australian production. No detailed pions for achieving these objectives have been set out by the Federal Government, but it is expected that the Government will make important suggestions. The conference is expected to last a week. Mr. Chifley will open the conference and he and the Minister of Labour, Mr. Holloway, will be the principal Commonwealth representatives.
