AN OLDER SHOW MEDAL

An older Agricultural and Pastoral Association medal than that referred to in Saturday’s issue has been brought to the “Chronicle" by Mrs. W. M. Roache, “Roseville," No. 1 Line, a grand-daughter of the late Mr. John Morgan, of “Newton Lees." Kaitoke. The medal which is of silver, was awarded as first prize for 10 Hampshire Down wethers exhibited in 1870. the exhibitor being the late Mr. John Morgan. These old medals, that in the possession of Mr. A. N. McLeod. “Dunvegan.” Okoia, and the one referred to here, are reminders of the many year:* which the Wanganui A. and P. Association has been in existence. There are probably many more such early trophies, and it would be interesting, from the association’s point of view, to collect and exhibit them some time, preferably during an annual show. Not only do they form a tribute to exhibitors of the past, but they reflect the change that has taken place in the last 75 years. Are there, for instance. any Hampshire Down sheep In the Wanganui district now any Clvdesdale horses for exhibition R’ of old?
