Sullivan (Opp., Bay of Pleniv made a suggestion that all deals of up to £3OO be excluded from the jurisdicItion of the Land Sales Committee, thus relieving prospective purchasers of small properties of the exp.en.se o< lawyers’ fees. Mr. T. 11. McCombs (Govt., Lyttelton) said that before that suggestion was considered it .should be realised I hat in many places in New Zealand small sections were under £3(>il. Furllier, no one would want people buying sections at £75 and resellin? for twice that amount. He would like Io sue power taken to prevent people build mg on unsuitable sections Mr. W. A. Sheaf (Opp., Palea) said some limit should be fixed on the price of sections, so as 1g encourage subdivision of land and the making of building sites available. If more sections were available that would tend to keep the price down and would help safeguard against sp. dilation. The debate was interrupted at the tea adjournment al 5.30 p.m. Suggestions that land transfers in-
