AUCKLAND GAS SUPPLY
MORE RESTRICTIONS ARE LIKELY NOW COAL VESSEL HAS NOT YET LEFT WESTPORT (P.A.) Auckland, Nov. 5. It is possible the present restrictions on the use of gas in Auckland will become more severe from to-morrow, as the Union Company’s Karepo has not. yet left Westport with supplies of coal, wllj(fh are being awaited in Auckland. “Further delay to the Karepo means that more drastic restrictions will have to be imposed,” said the general manager of the Auckland Gas Company, Mr. R. Worley. “We may have sufficient coal to scrape by to-morrow, but certainly after Wednesday a tightening up will be necessary.” Although the exact times had .vet to he decided he said that it would he possible to provide gas each day foe only two meal hours of two hours each. A message from West port, late tonight, stated that, there was no prospect of the Karepo. sailing before 10 a.m. to-morrow. Supplies of coal, i which were to have been brought, by ! special train from Wellington to reI lieve the shortage have been found ! unsuitable for the purpose and will not now be railed to Auckland. .
