LIEUT.-GENERAL PUTTICK
DUE TO RETIRE THIS YEAR, The General Officer Commanding the New Zealand .Military Forces und Chief of the General Staff, Lieuten-ant-General E. Puttick, is due to ret.re this year. No indication has vet been given whether it is the intention to appoint a successor in the near future or whether General Puttick will lie asked to remain on duty for a further period.
Among those who are considered to be next in line for appointment as next G.0.C., Br gadier N. W. McD Weir is thought likely t: he first choice. Brigadier Weir 1■ 52 jears ot age. He held a number of inportant staff appointments dur ng the war. and is at present Quartetmaster-Gcn-eral at Army Headquarters.
