They said that when Admiral Mountbatten’s broadcast announcing peace was picked up on secret radios, some of the Changi prisoners found they were no longer guarded. These prisoners promptly decided to execute lour Japanese guards who had been particularly cruel. Armed with Japanese swords, they attacked :h-?b’ captors al. mess. To kill the four guards they had to cut down 40 others.
