GUNS RETAINED BY ITALIAN PARTISANS

Recd. 6 p.m. Rome, Sept. 4. Thousands of partisans who fought tlie Gen-nans and Fascists in north Italy with arms supplied by the Allies or captured from the enemy, have given up shot-guns, pistols, knives, and museum pieces in response to the Allied military government proclamations, but as raids have shown, retained their machine-guns and suo-machine-guns. The partisans possess even mortars and anti-tank guns. An Associated Press correspondent says that Italian Government officials, or at least the Right Wing elements, are concerned about the capacity ol police control during any widespread rioting which might break out when the Allied forces leave the territory.
