WHARFAGE CHARGES
WANGINUI HARBOUR BOARD GRANTED INCREASE Approval of the Wanganui Harbour Board's Jupplication for autnority to increase its wharfage charges and harbour improvement rate bv 10 pet '•ent., has been granted by the Price Tribunal. Advice fo this effect was received by the board at its monthly meeting Aa application to the tribunal was made in accordance with an earlier decision of the board. The increase was sought in an endeavour to offset higher costs which followed a pronouncement by the Court, of Arbitration granting increased wages to emIt was stated at the time that the higher wages were costing the Wanganui Harbour Board an extra £110(1 a year. These could he recovered, liowever, if wharfage charges and the harbour improvement rate were inci cased by 10 per cent.
