WELLINGTON HOSPITAL BOARD SILVERSTREAM HOSPITAL NURSING AIDES The Wellington Hospital Board, having received the permission of the Nurses’ and Midwives’ Registration Board to establish a TRAINING SCHOOL FOR AIDES, invites applications from the following groups:— A. Girls who desire to take up Nursing as a career for training at the abovementioned Training School for Nursing Aides. B. Voluntary Aides who have already done all or part of 6000 hours’ duty In a general hospital. C. Voluntary Aides at present doing duty in a general hospital. D. Pupil Nurses who have done two years’ training in a general hospital and who have passed the Nursing Section of the State Preliminary Examination E. State Registered Nursing Aides. The period of training for those with no previous experience is two years, and may be commenced at 17 years of age. The first six months will be largely devoted to domestic science, and thereafter domestic and elementary nursing duties of a practical nature. In addition to doctors’ lectures, tuition in nursing technique, nutrition and domestic duties will ge given throughout the course of training by fully-qualified Tutor Sisters and Dietitians. Applicants who have already done 0)00 hours’ duty in a general hospital will be ablp to sit for the first State Nursing Aides’ Examination held after their appointment. Those who are at present doing duty in a general hospital will be given credit for the period of duty already performed. Pupil Nurses with two years’ training in a general hospital, and who have passed the Nursing Section of the State Preliminary Examination, will be granted a concession of one year towards the period of training for a Nursing Aide. Registered Aides, who desire to proceed to take their general training, will be granted a concession of one year towards the three years and three months’ training required of General Nurses. Per annum. Salary: Aides in training...., Ist year .... £66/10/2nd year .... £76/10/Registered Aides .. Ist year .... £ll6/10/2nd year .... £126/10/With Free Board, Residence and Laundry.
