ANTI-BRITISH INTRIGUE IN RUMANIA
SAID TO BE COMMUNIST INSPIRED f eed. 5.5 p.m. London, July 16. “Behind the scenes, members oi the Rumanian Government and their' Communist masters dispense antiAmerican and anti-Bniish propaganda,” says the Sunday Times correspondent who recently was in Rumania. According to the correspondent Rumania has one of the “police Governments” about which Mr. Churchill spoke in his victory broadcast. No news except that suiting the Government and the Russian occupation forces is allowed out and no one can leave the country without Russian permission, which rarely is granted. Open domination of the Government began in February, when the Russian Deputy Foreign Commissar, Mr. Vyshinski, insisted on the dismissal of the Premier, General Radcscu, and his replacement by the present Premier, Dr. Groza. The correspondent says Groza is a wealthy idealist and tries to restrain what he (Groza) describes as his “turbulent Left,” but the real rulers are a little group of the Com-intern-trained Communists.
