THEFT OF CARPETS

FACTORY ENTERED AT WANGANUI EAST Carpets and floor rugs valued at approximately £2OO were stolen from the premises of the Wanganui East Furniture Manufacturing Co., Duncan Street, late on Monday night or early yesterday morning. Admission was gained by the front door, a glass panel of which was broken, thus permitting the Yale lock to be turned from the inside. Investigations yesterday morning disclosed that a vehicle of some kind must have been used to remove the goods. They were of a fairly bulky nature. It is beleived that the persons responsible were either disturbed, or found that their conveyance was not large enough. Other carpets weie discovered ready folded for removal. Employees of the firm discovred the theft when they arrived at work yesterday morning. Detectives are invest igat ing.
