RAETIHI W.D.F.U.

Mrs. Malpas presided over a good attendance o£ members at a recent meeting of the Raetihi Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. A letter was received from Raetihi Borough Council re regulations in the event oi the sale of liquor in the King Country. The meeting approved of the regulations as set down. The president gave members information so far received on the Government Domestic Aid Scheme, which it is understood, is to be discussed at the forthcoming Dominion conference. Mrs. Sommerville gave an account of the visit of the four delegates to the annual provincial meeting held in Wanganui. Remits for conference were discussed. At the conclusion of business Mrs. Malpas. on behalf of the members presented Mrs. Volkerling with a handbag in recognition of her splendid work during her three-year term as president. Mrs. Volkerling suitably replied. Mrs. Sommerville read a letter from her son. who had been a prisoner of war in Germany and had arrived safely in Britain. Competition winners were: Best bloom.
