BOMBS ON GERMANY
34,800 TONS IN APRIL BOMBER COMMAND R.A.F. London, May 2. By dropping 34,800 tons of bombs in April, Bomber Command brought the total since the outbreak to more than 950,000 tons, says the Air Ministry. All except 500 tons in April fell on Germany, including 1200 tons on Berchtesgaden. Some 105 German cities and towns were attacked by the R.A.F. during the war with loads ranging from 500 to 4000 tons, according to an Air Ministry statistical review. In April, which will probably be the last month in which there will be much detailed, large-:cale bombing attacks aga’nst Germany. Berlin topped the list, with 22 attacks. Cologne had 18, Essen Duisberg and Stuttgart 12. Dortmund and Hamburg 11, Ludwigshaven 10, Kiel, Dusseldorf, Homburg and Nuremberg eight. Munich, Wanneeichel, Mannheim, Gelsenkirchen and Bremen seven, Fiankfurt, Hanover, and Buer six. Kamen, Bochum, Brunswick. Sterkrade, Neuss, and Munchengladbach five. Nine German towns had four major attack:-, 10 three attacks, 17 two attacks and 41 one.
