ELECTION SOON IN CANADA
Recd. 7 p.r.r Ottawa, March 19. “A general election will be held in Canada soon after the Parliamentary term expires on April 17,” said the Governor-General, the Earl of Athlone, in a speech from the Throne, opening the sixth session of the 19th Parliament. The speech war. one of the shortest on record, and referred to necessary financial provisions for the period until a new Parliament opens, and urged the widest possible Parliamentary support to the Canadian delegation to the San Francisco Conference. “The war continues with relentless fury and Allied forces advancing Io what is believed will be a decisive victory,” said the Earl. “Canada is more proud tljan ever of the achievements of its fighting forces.”
