FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE
FARM HAND REMANDED When he appeared before Mr. A. R. Donaldson, J.P., in the Magistrate's Court, Wanganui, yesterday, charged with false pretences, Fred Clark, farm hand, aged 27, was remanded to appear in Wanganui again on Monday. Accused was charged that, on April 12 last, at Raetihi, with intent to defraud, he obtained from Arthur Charles Bell a wristlet watch, valued at £ll, and £4 in money by falsely representing that a cheque drawn on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Foxton, in favour of A. C. Bell, and signed by F. Clark, was in good order and valid for £l5. Applying for the remand, Detec-tive-Sergeant J. J. Murray indicated that further charges were pending.
