CITY COUNCIL’S DECISION

CAMP SITE IMPROVEMENTS

As part of the Wanganui City Council’s policy to improve its motor camps as much as possible, the city engineer. Mr. L. F. Row, has been authorised to dismantle end remove certain hutments at the Aramoho Park which may be replaced by an improved type giving the same accommodation.

This question was the subject of a report from the Works Committee adopted by the council at its recent meeting. The chairman of the committee. Cr. T. S. Russell, the Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers, and the city engineer were also empowered to inspect Army huts which may be suitable for erection at Aramoho Park. The city engineer was also given authority to proceed with the erection of a new cookhouse and dining-hall at the Castlecliff motor camp, and to provide a washroom for women campers. The total cost of this work is estimated at £6OO.
