GRADUAL DEMOBILISATION
Recd. 8 p.m. New York, Aug. 22. "Between one and two million men will be released from service when Germany falls,” said the Director of Selective Service, Major-General Hershey, who added that demobilisation will be gradual, because even if 1000 are dismissed hourly, it would take 10 months to free two million. General Hershey endorsed the idea of gradual demobilisation, even after Japan’s defeat, but admitted that it wifi be unpopular, because people want the boys to come home.
