STOLEN FROM UNDER MAN’S BED
I XI 9,000 CASH Reed. 6 p.m. Sydney, May 29. A thief stole £19.000 in cash from an unlocked attache case under a man's hod on Saturday nigr.t. ’ Th? money belonged to Alfred Bassett, aged SO, a retired investor and properly owner, who had kept it under his bed for 12 months. He intended to distribute it among his seven sens and daughters. The monev was in bundles of banknotes of high denominations, saved by Basse!t during Ihe past ten years. He believed the attache case was as safe as a depository in the bank. The theif is believed to hav*‘ entered Ihe house while the family wore having an e\ ning meal.
