Mis. Haywood. The winner of last week’s stroke competition was Mrs. P. Rhodes. WEDDING BELLS. INGLE—-WILLIAMS. The wedding took place at the Pres-byter-an cnuich, st. Jonn Street, on lueoruary 19, 1944, of Mr. James Wm. ingle (M.N.), son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan ingle, of Marton, New Zealand, anti Miss Megan iris Williams (S.R.N.), youngest daughter of the late Mr. ana Mrs. iJavid Evan Williams, Raymonu Street, Chester. Rev. Griffith Hugnes oriiciaied. The bride, wno wove a grey suit with navy accessories, was given away by ner brother, Cpl. A. Williams, R.L.. and was attended by her cousin, Miss Beryl Jones, W.R.N.S. Cpl. R. lun Cameron, R.A.b . was best man. A reception was held at 22 Springfield Drive, Newton (the home of the bride’s sister) Mr. and Mrs. Ingle will reside at Prenton lor the duration of the war, after which they will come to New Zealand. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE DANCE, Although Saturday night was very -unfavourable, there was a fairly goou attendance at the dance in the Empire Hall, under the auspices of St. John Ambulance. Bright music was supplied by Setford s orchestra, extras being played by Mr. Marks and Mr. T. Hartley. Lucky Gay Gordons were won by Mr. M. Gray and partner. Miss L. Russell and Mr. E. Lander and Mrs. SchQw and partner. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss V. Conder and partner, and a competition by Mr. Beamsley. The ladies’ committee provided an excellent sup■per and also acted as M.C.’s. CIVIC THEATRE, MARTON. . “BALL OF FIRE.” Love, laughter and excitement are all blended in “Ball of Fire,” Samuel Goldwyn’s newest RKO Radio release, which stars Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. Cooper plays the role of a studious professor and Miss Stanwyck that of a flippant little night club entertainer whom he meet* while investigating Broadway slang. Oscar Homolka, Dana Andrews, Tully Marshall, Dan Duryea, Leonid Kinskey and Allen Jenkins are in the cast of the gay comedy-romance. RATA-PUTORINO W.D.F.U. The tenth birthday party of the Rata-Putorino W.D.F.U. was held at Mrs. A. Rhodes’, there being a very good attendance of members and fi lends.
