DEATH ON ACTIVE SERVICE
HAWERA BUSINESSMAN. Advice of the death of her husband on active service from sickness, Trooper E. R (Jim) Honeyfield, has been receix ed by Mrs. G. T. Honeyfield, Hawera. Trooper Honey field, who was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Honeyfield, well-known residents of Whenuakura, left New Zealand 10 months ago with the 10th. reinforcements of. the 2nd. N.Z.E.F. and saw action in the tank corps in Italy. Thirty-two years of age, Trooper Honeyfield was born in Whenuakura and was educated at Ihe Whenuakura school and New Plymouth Boys’ High School. On leaving school in 1929 he entered employment with the Farmers' Co-operative Society, of which his father is a director, in the stock department, and latterly in the farm supervision department at Hawera until his entry into a military camp about, two years ago. He married Miss G. R. Lendrum sexen years ago and there are two children, a daughter, Jill and a son. Pet.er. Trooper Honeyfield was keenly interested in sport, being a prominent mmeber of th P Hawera Fotball Club. He was also an active member of the Hawera Battalion of the Home Guard before his military service.
