TO-DAY’S PROGRAMMES OPERA HOUSE. Teaming those two fun favourites, Lupe Velez and Leon Errol, for the eighth time, RKO Radio’s “Mexican Spitfire’s Blessed Event,’’ screening at the Opeta House to-day, is a sparkling comedy of mistakes and mixups in typical “Spitfire’’ style. A non-existent baby is the basis for most of the plot complications. Misinterpreting a telegram from his Mexican wife, Carmelita, Dennis Lindsay thinks he is a father - and the news proves the deciding factor in winning over the eccentric Lord Epping to sign a contract. However, Lord Epping wants to see the baby first—and when he finds it’s all a mistake, tilings begin to happen. A. son’s efforts to clear the name of his dead father is the basis of the plot in the associate feature, “Sagebrush Law,” starring Tim Holt. MAJESTIC THEATRE. A story based on the shrewd and ofttimes brilliant designs of the adventurous men and women who form the mysterious espicnage circles in Europe has been made into a film that is, according to advance reports, one ot the most at resting spy melodramas to come out of Hollywood in a long time. It is “Appointment in Berlin,” which is screening at the Majestic Theatre today. Georg e Sanders, British actor, is co-starred with Marguerite Chapman, young Columbia player who is rapidly climbing to the top of the screen favourite list. Sanders plays the role of an R.A.F. Commander who purposely falls into disgrace in his own country, in order that he may ingratiate himsfll with a powerful Nazi group. How well he does it is shown by the fact that they permit him to send coded usages through to British Intelligence, even while he seemingly leviies his own country. REGENT THEATRE. George Zucco, celebrated character actor, gives a very impressive performance in the P.R.C. thrill-drama, “The Black Raven," which screens at the Regent Theatre to-day. The action takes place in and around a tavern called the Black Raven run by Zucco near the Canadian border. He is engaged in the shad., business of helping criminals who desire to get safely across the line from the States Romantic entertainment with music and action is premised by universal in th e associate feature. “You’re a Lucky Fellow, Mr. Smith” An emergency wedding and its amusingly surprising consequences motivates the plot of the zestful drama-comedy. Alan Jones and Evelyn Ankers are co-starred. DUCHESS THEATRE. "Broadway Big Shot," a story of an All-American football star, and features Ralph Byrd and Virginia Vale screens at the Duchess Theatre tonight. The associate feature “Prisoner of Japan,” stars Gertrude Michael and Alan Baxter.
