BOWLING SEASON CLOSES
WANGANUI EAST CLUB Although rain prevented play, there was a very good attendance of members at the Wanganui East Bowling Club’s green on Saturday for the official closing of the season. Addressing members, the president, Mr. W. Raine, referred to the many successes which had come the way of the club during the season. Included in honours won were the Champion of Champions by O. Partridge and the Gordon Pairs by J. Bradshaw and E. Fletcher. Special mention was made by Mr. Raine of the excellent playing surface of the green, due to the work of Mr. Bamber and his helpers. Mrs. Raine presented trophies to winners of club competitions, and afternoon tea was served, after which the National'Anthem was sung, bringing proceedings to a close. Winners of competitions during the season were as follow, with the names of runner-up in parentheses:— A Singles: O. Partridge (S. Gaunt). B Singles: L. Tate (H. Northey). A Pairs: G. Stanton and S. Gaunt (T. McGregor and C. Haworth). B Pairs: A. Dempsey and P. Curtis (A. A. Willis and J. Hogg). Club Fours: A. Walpole, B. Munro, W. P. Boswell, E. Fletcher. Foster Buttons: C. Campbell and H. Bellringer. London Ferns: W. J. McKernan and W. Lints (G. P. Hawkins and H. Stewart). Handicap Singles: E. Fletcher (H. Dennison). C Singles: E. Manley (G. Todman). First Manley Pairs: H. Bellringer and W. Raine. Second Manley Pairs: T. Dennison and O. Partridge. Robbie Pairs: G. McGrail and B. Munro. Curtis Pairs: T. Dennison and E. McPherson.
