SERVICE IN BURMA
MAJOR A. C. MEIKLE M'ENTION'ED IN DESPATCHES PARENTS LIVE IN WANGANUI Major A. C. Meikle, 2nd Battalion of the 10th Gurkha Regiment, has been mentioned in dispatches tor gallant and distinguished service on the Burma front. He is the only son of Major and Mrs. J. Allen Meikle, Ingestre Street, Wanganui. Major Meikle, junr., was born in England in 1917, and same to New Zealand with his parents after the last war. He was educated at Christ’s College, Christchurch and, on leaving college, went back to England, and entered the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He passed out from there on July 3. 1939, and was commissioned in the Indian Army and posted to the 10th Gurkha Regiment in January, 1940. In October, 1940, Major Meikle was promoted captain and made adjutant of the 3rd Battalion of the 10th Gurkha Regiment. Since June, 1941, he has been engaged on active service in Burma.
