THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
LECTURES BY MR. GEOFFREY HODSON. Described as an international lecturer for the Theosophical Society, and in the iirst rank as a teacher of the truths on which the society bases its philosophy, Mr. Geoffrey hodson will give a series of lectures in Wanganui next week. The first of these, “The Person, the Power and the Presence ot God,” will be given in the Y.M.C.A. lounge at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Public study classes will be held in the Theosophical’ Hall, Plymouth Street, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 p.m., and on Thursday night a public lecture will be given in the same hall. Other meetings have also been arranged. songs were sung by the League of Motners Choir under the leadership of Mrs. C. Berry (Hunterviie Institute presented a playette, those taking part being Mesdames Futcher and Holtord. The guest speaker was Sister Plent, who gave a talk on her native country, Denmark. After giving a description ol the country which consists of hundreds of islands, Copenhagen being built on three islads, the speaker told of the modern flats of front three to 10 rooms, all centrally heated, in which th e majority of people lived in the capital city. Sister Plent then dealt with child education in Denmark and the work of Women’s Institutes. Sprays were presented to members of the committee and those who contributed to the programme. Thanks were expressed to all who had assisted to make the meeting such a happy gathering, also to the Rapanui and Kai Iwi Institutes, th e hostesses for the day, in providing morning and afternoon tea.
