Describing the three heavy enemj ; thrusts against the Allied lines in Italy during the past 24 hours, Reuter's correspondent at Allied Headquarters states that an attack against the Canadians, five miles inland from the Adriatic, occurred in darkness afUr heavy artillery fire. The Canadians, in a fierce struggle, threw back the German infantry and tanks after inflicting casualties. Another strong raiding force attacked | Aided mountain positions one and ihalf miles east of Terelle and north 1 of Cassino. Knives, bayonets and 1 grenades were used in the fighting that swept up and down the rocky ’ slopes. A number of Allied troops fell before the Germans were thrown from the mountainside and driven back. A third thrust against the west flank of the beachhead perimeter was repulsed with casualties. Fifth Army, troops in the beachhead area, captured an enemy outpost intact.
