OBITUARY

MR. GEORGE L. STROUD. The death has occurred in the Waikato Hospital of Mr. George Lionel Stroud, of Pataruru. Mr. Stroud was 68 years of age, and was a returned soldier of the 1914-1918 war. His wife, Mrs. H. Stroud, resides in Pataruru. MR. MICHAEL CORRIGAN. The death has occurred of Mr. Michael Corrigan, of Te Awamutu, after a long illness. The deceased who was born in Ireland, came to New Zealand in 1897 and farmed in the Taihape district from 1899 to 1936. He then lived in Auckland for a period, going to Te Awamutu seven years ago. He leaves a widow, formerly Miss Ellen Burke, of Wanganui. A brother, Mr. Jack Corrigan, is farming at Ngaroma. MRS. E. McDERMOTT. The. death has occurred of Mrs Emma McDermott, of Auckland. She was born in Cornwall in 1868 and arrived at Auckland in 1871 in the sailing shij) Caduceus. Her childhood wasi spent at Thames. She married the; late Mr. James McDermott and is survived by a son. MR. J. F. SMITH. The death has occurred, after a lon_r illness, ct Mr. John Frank Smith, of St. Luke's Road, Mount Albert. Mr. Smith was born in Vienna and he began work at the age of seven, when, after school in the morning, he was employed in the afternoon in a weaving factory. Over 50 years ago Mr. Smith emigrated to the United States, where he livtu for 15 years before coming to Nev. Zealand. He is survived by his wife, one son and on? daughter.
